The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification which can be achieved by any young person in any arts or media activity nationwide. There are no entry requirements, no time limit and no set rules on how final work should be presented. The only prerequisites are that applicants should be between 11 and 25 and want to explore new creative experiences.

DJWorkshops.com and the Arts Award

I am trained to deliver all three levels of the award. Applicants I have worked with have successfully passed at Bronze and Silver and I am currently advising two young people who are working towards their Gold Awards.

In some cases I have been the main advisor to young people and so I organised the entire project.  In other cases I have been used as an artist to assist young people in specific sections of the Award.  My
Arts Award Welcome Offers detail how I can be of use to any organisation in helping young people with specific sections of the award. If you would like to discuss anything else, please do not hesitate to contact me.

My previous experience includes:
Bronze Level:
I have assisted in Part A: Explore the Arts as a Participant, Part B: Explore the Arts as an Audience Member and Part D: Arts Apprenticeship for young people in schools, youth clubs, Young Offender Institutes, Youth Offending Teams and NETE groups. All sections which have been completed with my assistance have been passed by the Arts Award moderators.

Silver Level:
I have successfully progressed two individuals through the whole of the Silver level and am now their advisor for Gold. I have also specialised in Unit1.1: Arts Challenge and Unit 2: Supervised Arts Leadership at various centres including NETE,YOT, YOI, schools and youth clubs. All sections which have been completed with my assistance have been passed by the Arts Award moderators.

I have been employed by Calderdale Youth Offending Team and the Youth Justice Board's Summer Arts College programme to deliver Bronze or Silver level sessions depending on the candidate for three years consecutively now. In the summer of 2009, eight young people obtained Bronze and two got their Silver. For more information on this demanding yet rewarding programme please click here to visit the Summer Arts College page of the Youth Justice Board website.

Arts Award is on the National Qualifications Framework and is accredited by the Qualifications Curriculum Authority.  The Arts Award (offered by Trinity Guildhall/The Arts Council) is a qualification available at levels 1 to 3 of the National Qualifications Framework. The qualification helps young people aged 11 to 25 develop as artists and arts leaders. It assesses both arts related skills (arts knowledge and understanding) and transferable skills (creativity, communication, planning and review, teamwork and leadership).
The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification at levels 1,2 and 3.  You can start the Arts Award at any level that you are ready for, and it doesn't matter what level qualifications you've done before or after. It is possible to do any level at any age, as long as you fit within the 11-25 range.

More information on the Arts Award can be found here.  Details of the place Arts Award holds on the National Qualifications Framework can be found at the bottom of this page, here and at the Qualificiations and Curriculum Development Agency website.

I aim to be as amenable and negotiable as possible with all my clients so that all the young people I work with get the best experience possible.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
