I ask that you supply a dry/roofed or preferably indoor area with sturdy trestle-style tables and a maintained 240V power supply. Where possible, please encourage the young people to bring their own CDs of their favourite music. This will help them maintain their artistic individuality throughout their participation.

I am a DJ artist and, although very experienced, I have no qualifications in youth work. If your group contains any individuals with special needs, it is essential you supply the necessary trained staff.
I request that you supply me with your organisation's child protection policy, behaviour policy and/or code of conduct so I can ensure that my sessions are run according to your specific needs. In line with my child protection policy I insist that I am never left as the sole adult in charge of young people while my workshops are running. A suitable representative of your organisation must be present throughout.

At your request I will post you my current CRB, Public Liability Insurance Certificate, PPL License, child protection policy, standard risk assessment, example worksheets and monitoring forms or any other information you may require.

Fees:
My basic rate is £50 per hour (with a minimum of a two hour call out) not including equipment hire at 10% of session total (per set of equipment needed), or travel at 46p per mile from Leeds 6 area. If your project requires extra editing, planning or preparation outside the session times, terms can be negotiated. I am not VAT registered, so no VAT will be added.

Numbers:
In smaller workshops much more attention can be given to individuals so real benefits can be seen. Two hour sessions are most popular with small groups as concentration levels remain high over this time period. If you have quite a large group you may get better value for money by splitting it into three smaller groups who spend an hour each with me while spending the rest of their time perhaps listening to music, researching online or doing other tasks.

I normally recommend that no more than eight candidates are in any single group unless you require a "taster session" to see how candidates react. "Taster sessions" can run on a drop-in basis or can involve up to 20 candidates over an hour. "Taster sessions" have the simple aim of ensuring some participation for all candidates. A popular method of running workshops is to hold a "taster" then arrange smaller, more detailed workshops depending on how many candidates gave positive feedback after the "taster".

If you are considering running a course of events such as Arts Award, Duke of Edinburgh's scheme or with an aim such as to educate candidates to be able DJs, or produce recordings/performances of music chosen by them, I am willing to negotiate rates for block bookings.

Equipment:
I use CD turntables for all first sessions as there is no time wasted learning how delicate vinyl turntables are. Where possible, please encourage the young people to bring their own CDs of their favourite music. This will help them maintain their artistic individuality throughout their participation. Vinyl turntables are, however, an essential part of any comprehensive DJ course and are used with candidates who have passed a certain level of understanding. Modern DJing also utilises computers and other control units which I can bring for demonstration purposes.

I can supply all equipment for an additional fee but I am as willing to teach candidates how to use any equipment you have so they can carry on with their practice when I am not present. If you are interested in purchasing equipment I can offer advice based on knowledge gained while working for a DJ equipment retailer.
I aim to be as amenable and negotiable as possible with all my clients so that all the young people I work with get the best experience possible.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
